Abstract
Archaeological research on Rinconada de Huechún has permitted the recognition of a late prehispanic society thats forms part of Aconcagua Cultural Complex, fitted to its environment, and with clearly differentiated activities, well defined spatial and temporal distribution, and a characteristic settlement pattern.
For the first time in local archaeology, a preincaic village with its irrigation ditch has been recognized as well as the quarry and lithic workshop where these groups elaborated their tools. The tumulus cemetery of the village was exhaustively excavated. This data yiels new evidence about its relation with the Meridional Andean Area, cooparticipating with other northern cultural complexes, on the process of agriculture, complemented with camelid- farming and coastal recolection. Not withstandingthis, they kept sorne araucanian tradition.
Conservation and restauration of the place, for metropolitan cultural leisure are carrying on at this moment.
